Things to do when staying at home during the COVID-19 lockdown
With the Coronavirus spreading in novel ways across the planet, the governments of several countries have had to take drastic measures. From travel bans to setting up isolation centers and issuing checks, the COVID-19 is changing the way things are being done. Not only businesses have been disrupted, but the coronavirus also keeps finding new ways to inflict damage on the world structure.
With most commercial airlines now grounded, the latest line in government directives is a total lockdown of states and cities. In some extreme cases, entire countries have been placed on lockdown and quarantine.
With a situation like this, it is best imagined than experienced, what would you do if you were on lockdown in your own house for fourteen days or more? We thought to compile a list of things you could do during the COVID-19 lockdown:
Work from home
If you can, do not let the COVID-19 stop you from working. If you can work remotely from home, the coronavirus should not grind the wheel of the industry into a total halt. You could set up a central communication hub on slack so that you can collaborate with your team while in quarantine.
Cook healthy meals
We all eat too much of junks anyway, so now that the coronavirus has forced a lockdown, we can all get back to cooking and preparing healthy meals. If you have stocked upright on ingredients, you could just go ahead to make loads of mouth-watering, healthy meals that will boost your immune system and further protects you from the virus.
Take an online course
With schools and other institutions closed, students will also be at home during the COVID-19 lockdown period. It is a good time to catch up on an online course that complements your course of study. It could also be an online course that teaches a practical skill in a professional way, take for example public speaking. Fourteen days might not look like a lot of time but when you are locked in, you can actually complete a month’s equivalent of coursework. Thanks to the Coronavirus.
Catch up on podcasts and music you have missed
It’s a fast-paced world and there are times that we miss out on things we don’t even know we have missed out on. Due to the COVID-19 lockdown, you can assume a semblance of patience and catch up on all of the podcasts and music you have missed. If you are done with that and you are still in the mood for more, you can be sure that the internet will not leave you hanging. While on lockdown, you could just discover the podcast that would liberate your mind.
Read new books
If the COVID-19 thinks the world is on lockdown and that nothing will get done, then we need to thank the creators and contributors of the internet. While on lockdown wherever you are, you can go ahead to grab a read of your favourite author. You can’t go out, yes, but you can go into other countries via the pages of books.
Catch up with friends
It is enough to be on lockdown but come on, it is not the end of the world. There are still plenty of things to get done in spite of the coronavirus outbreak. One of them is catching up with friends. While we might not know how much we mean to each other in the world of cut-throat academics, business and career, there is so much to talk about. While in quarantine, you might just schedule a video call with one of your friends and catch up on good old times. COVID-19 has got nothing on you.
Watch videos
If you have got a Netflix subscription, it’s flex time! How many series can you actually finish in a few days? It’s time to find out. If you don’t have a Netflix subscription, you could catch a few videos on YouTube. While you are at, you can watch this video on keeping your home safe during this lockdown period. You can also watch this other video on the visual representations of what you can do during the lockdown.
Potential.com has launched an online empowerment platform to raise awareness on Coronavirus along with providing schools and organizations free access to the future job skills library of content from Potential.com. Schools and organizations can share that content with their students and employees who can go through the self-directed learning at their own pace and benefit from it.
While there are loads of things that you could do, running down this checklist will keep you occupied for the COVID-19 lockdown period.
